It Begins

Earlier this year we decided we are going to home school our two oldest kids this next year.  I have been doing research and learning how I want to teach my children and what I want to teach my children.  It has been exciting, fun and I am looking forward to having school at home.  We had a fundraiser to gather some funds for some of the supplies we need.  We didn't sell enough boxes of cards for an order but, several people donated money and we are going to have a good start.  I am starting to gather supplies and organize.  Today was making daily folder for me to put the girls work in for each day of the week.  We even let LeeLee decorate her own.
MiMi's Tuesday Folder (Stamps are Stampin' Up!)
 LeeLee's name writing folder.
DeeDee's Friday folder (Day labels were downloaded from preschoolmom.com)

The girls had an enjoyable time stamping with Mommy and Mommy had fun getting some organizational things done with her girls.  Thank you, Jussy, for taking a good nap and MaeMae for being good even though you didn't take a nap.

We are going to do this year round, taking a week long break about every 6 weeks with a few long weekends mixed up in the bunch.  I decided for my sanity this is how it needed to happen.  LeeLee is still going to do preschool outside of the home.  I am doing that for my sanity also.

I have always wanted to be a teacher and I love working with children but, I also have felt that becoming a teacher was not the way I could do this.  I have anxiety issues especially, when it come to meeting new people and most especially when I have to make telephone calls.

Mark is going to do the science stuff for the girls, I am going to work my sister, Sarah, in with the English and my Mom is going to do sewing lessons with the girls when she retires in September.  DeeDee is already taking piano lessons with my Sister-In-Law, April.  I am going to have MiMi start in January.  The curriculum is called A2 - Accelerated Achievement.  It is a classical education and includes instructions for all grades (K-12).  It is great guidance without giving word for word instructions.  I guess what I am saying is that is going to allow Mark and Me to be in charge of what we teach our children.

I am inviting family and friends to follow us through our journey.  So please follow along.
